Fountain House’s Excellence in Mental-Illness Support

On a global level, the amount of people who struggle with mental disabilities is staggering. It is reported that more than 400 million people worldwide¬†have some form of mental disability. Some mental disabilities have come from the result of emotional trauma while some people are simply born with these issues. On any given year, up to 20 percent of adults will experience some form of mental issue. This is where Fountain House¬†comes into the picture, and this organization has changed people’s lives for the better. Fountain House is a New York-based, nonprofit organization. This organization has been in existence since 1944, and it was founded by mental-illness patients.

Fountain House is backed by a team of professionals, philanthropists and everyday people. Jeremy Goldstein, a prominent lawyer in New York, sits on the Board of Directors for this specific organization. Goldstein is a high-powered lawyer who specializes in executive compensation and corporate governance. He basically provides business advice for people and companies. In addition to that, this man has worked on many huge projects for fortune 500 companies such as:

  • Bank One Corporation

  • South African Breweries

  • Chevron Corporation

  • P. Morgan Chase

  • Goldman Sachs

  • Bank of America

  • And many more

Jeremy Goldstein has done a phenomenal job of raising capital for Fountain House. On May 21, 2019, he hosted a gala in New York City to support the cause. This gala was held on the rooftop of the NoMad Hotel, and many high-profile figures were in attendance. Some of the best-tasting wines were offered along with delicious foods. The title of the event was named “Mental illness: You Are Not Alone.” Jeremy Goldstein has hosted similar events like this in the past. He has been able to accrue more than $55,000 with just two wine dinners. This capital went on to supporting Fountain House’s many programs. The organization houses a number of mental-illness patients, and it focuses on helping these individuals to become self-sufficient.
